Hello world!

Hello world!

Hello world!
My name is Matteo, and I am a 20-something year old trying to find his way through life. I have a lot of things that I would like to do, a lot of things that I would like to learn, and a lot of things that I would like to create, and I would like this blog to be one of the places where I share some of them.

This blog

I have come to a point in my life where I would like to share some stuff with the world, and I thought a blog would be a good way to do it. I like that I can do it at my own schedule, with no pressure (since likely nobody will be reading anyways), and with no expectations or requirements.
My goal with this blog is going to be to make it some selected public face of myself, sharing what I enjoy, do, and learn, in the hope to attract a few like-minded people (not necessarily a compliment). Along the way I would like to share my favorite resources, some of the stuff I have done or will do, and lots of links to some cool stuff. Like Scott Rosenberg once wrote: "They shall know you through your links".
I do not have one particular topic in mind at the moment, but I will discuss a little bit about life life, technology, philosophy, and other stuff. At the moment, I have been interested by the world of open source software, personal finance, (digital and real-life) minimalism, and much more, which I plan to cover in the coming posts.

My inspiration

After having long considered opening a blog to post what comes into my head I have decided this is finally the time. Recently, blogs have been my favorite source of reading, and I have thoroughly enjoyed going through the most disparate types of blogs with the most interesting topics and stories. The biggest inspiration for opening a blog has come from many places. I have been inspired by the many small blogs from hacker news, from the italian blogs of Mr. RIP and Salvatore Sanfilippo, and from some old veteran blogs like living a FI and Scott Aaronson.
The inspiration for the style of writing will try to be from Matt Levine's Money Stuff, my favorite style of witty and funny writing about boring topics.
The inspiration for the layout of the website itself is after Mitchell Hashimoto's beautifully simple and clean website.
And there are many more inspirations that would take too long to list.
Many blogs, including the ones mentioned above, have changed my life one way or another. I think that blogs have been one of the best things that came out of the internet. Blogs can connect the ideas of people from all over the world in the more polite version of what social media has become, without the attention-grabbing tricks, and discussing things in a sufficient level of detail to feel valuable and memorable. I hope this may add one more to the massive list of them that are out there.
